Monsters and Villains are often the center of conflict in a campaign. Players what is the most memorable monster you faced? Game masters who’s the greatest villain you ever made?

There was one session where we went up against a beholder in "out of the abyss."

My way of the open hand Monk Zircon went into the middle of it's lair, which was a 600ft pit, and challenged him.

Zircon became incapacitated and thrown off the bridge falling the 600ft down. He survived not from slow fall but because he had a huge pool of HP.

He then gets attacked by the death ray but saves and doesn't fall unconscious.

He eventually gets hit again by an attack and falls unconscious.

Meanwhile the entire part is scrambling trying to get to him to heal him.

He eventually fails all death saves but luckily our cleric has revivify and he comes back.

It was one of the best encounters of that campaign.

Zircon always became a clutch character for everything else. So much that Monks turned into my favourite class to play.

For one of my campaigns, the players wanted a Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones adventure. I’m using the jungle island of Chult, found in the Tomb of Annihilation, for a short homebrew campaign. I’ve been loving playing in the world. The last session I added a little fun “Jungle Cruise”

with a little wise cracking tour guide and had ready variety of encounters the group could run into.

Love the dinosaurs. Dying in a beautiful tropical jungle is one of my goals

That moment when your players go up against the BBEG and they polymorph into a T-Rex.

Then the warlock finished them off with 3 Eldritch blasts 2 of which do critical hits

The very first character I made for a long term D&D campaign was Ezra Evergreen. He was a warlock trickster who’s patron was the Lady of Mist, a powerful Archfey. I thought I was so clever and hot with my illusions and teleportation, but looking back I was a lot more cringy and obnoxious than I care to admit especially to my other veteran players. I wouldn’t have it anyothet way though because Ezra is the reason I even fell in love with D&D and gave me the push I needed to keep playing. Even if he was just a result from the stress of being a closeted teenage boy.

What was your class for your first long term campaign?

  • 0%Artificer

  • 0%Barbarian

  • 0%Bard

  • 0%Cleric

I'm in my first long-term campaign now and I'm playing a half elf cleric! I wanted to be able to focus on healing and buffs for the group, but give myself a little versatility otherwise! Already planning a divination wizard multi class down the line, too 😉

I played in a little short campaign before this one as a halfling bard and I loved being support and doing damage at the same time, too!

I love being able to add my own flair to my spells, too. For my bard I was writing haikus and limericks, for my cleric I'm utilizing a lot of Shakespeare quotes!
